What was your first job as a journalist?
Bourbon beat writer at Louisville.com, the first one they ever had and the first one that ever really existed in Louisville (maybe anywhere).

Of course lol
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
The Lone Gunmen
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did! I started as the Assistant News Editor and worked my way up to News Editor. I also dabbled in layout and photography.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I refer back to the story I did about the science behind why women make better whiskey tasters than men frequently. One of my favorites!
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't work for free, as tempting as it might be. People die from exposure, they don't pay bills with it.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Any time. If I am busy, I will look at it later.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
From PeetCom's Laura Peet, who pitched a story about distillery dogs because she knew I was active in rescue :)
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
There are so many. Pitches for things I don't cover are a waste of time. Sending the name and photo of your product and nothing else. Etc
What's your favorite drink?
Bourbon, obviously :)
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Asleep 😅
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I cover anything with alcohol in it.
