1 Introduction In survival analysis, the focus is on examining the time between an initiating event and a specific or terminating event, such as the time from the onset of a disease to relapse or death due to the disease. Examples include the time to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, the time from the onset of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease to the development of symptoms, or the time from an organ transplant to organ rejection or patient death.
