Identification and characterization of BAHD hydroxycinnamoyltransferases in the fern Neoblechnum brasiliense
INTRODUCTION Hydroxycinnamic acid esters, such as chlorogenic acid and rosmarinic acid, occur widely throughout the plant kingdom presumably as UV screen or feeding and pathogen deterrent (Petersen, 2013). Caffeoylshikimic acid, on the other hand, is essential in the formation of caffeoyl, feruloyl, and sinapoyl moieties and monolignols as building blocks for the cuticle and for lignification (Boerjan et al., 2003; Renault et al., 2017).

INTRODUCTION Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai is a perennial, evergreen species of the family Chloranthaceae, occurring in Southeast Asia, China, and Japan. The Chloranthaceae is the only family in the order Chloranthales, which belongs to the mesangiosperms and is considered a sister group to the magnoliids (Guo et al., 2021). It encompasses only four genera, Ascarina, Chloranthus, Hedyosmum, and Sarcandra, with a total of about 75 species (Stevens, 2001).

Contextualizing land‐use and land‐cover change with local knowledge: A case study from Pokot Central, Kenya
Abstract Rural communities in the drylands of sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA) derive their livelihoods primarily from their natural resource base. Unprecedented changes in these environments over the past few decades are likely to intensify in the future and land users need to develop sustainable adaptation strategies. This study aims to identify land‐use and land‐cover (LULC) changes and their drivers in a sub‐Saharan dryland, between 1986 and 2017, by integrating local knowledge and remote sensing.
