Integrated chemoenzymatic approaches for the design and transformation of enantiopure monomers into stereoregular PHA-like polyesters

This thesis focuses on the development of chemoenzymatic strategies for the synthesis of bio-based and biodegradable polymers, particularly polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA)-type materials. The work integrates enantioselective monomer synthesis, enzymatic catalysis, and polymerization methodologies to design stereoregular and structurally defined polyesters. The starting point was the synthesis of enantiopure ß-hydroxyesters, obtained in optically pure form through heterogeneous biocatalysis.
