Makarand R. Paranjape sought voluntary superannuation from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in 2024 after being a full professor there for nearly twenty-five years. Earlier, he served as the Director, Indian Institute of Advanced Study. The author/editor of over 50 books, hundreds of academic papers, and thousands of newspaper and magazine articles, he is considered one of India’s leading public intellectuals.
