Burlington, VT – A long-standing community fixture in Burlington’s Old North End has closed its doors after more than 80 years of operation. The Sara Holbrook Community Center announced in July that it would be closing and suspending its services effective August 1. The center’s board of directors cited financial difficulties as the reason for the closure. Kristin Fontaine, who chaired the board of directors said the decision to close was not made lightly.
