Yes. I was given one when I was 8 by my uncle (yes, another journalist).
How is social media changing news?
Enormously. Increased pluralism, greater inclusion & representation, shorter news cycle, challenge to media monopolies & state controls.

Tweetdeck, IFTTT, Yammer, Hipchat, Skype, Readability, Google (Translate, Maps, Mail, Hangout, Chat, Docs), Mailchimp, Wikimapia, Passpack...

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Learn code, spend your entire first year sub-editing, keep yourself off stage, follow the fog index, don't self-indulge.
