To tell stories.

yes, and at University too. Everything that needed doing, including some rather suspect photography before digital cameras made it easy.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Interview with Ellen McArthur before she sailed solo around the world. It was her 'prep' year – I got to meet the real sailor, not the brand.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Multi-task. The more aspects of the creation you can master, the more control you will have over your work.
