By Manali Lukha, Head of ITV Weather Well it looks like July will finish on a high (at least from a temperature point of view). We have seen a week of two halves. This week started on a wet and windy note (you would have been forgiven for thinking we had somehow transported ourselves into Autumn), but with temperatures rising, it seems summer isn't quite done with us yet. We will end July with hot conditions across much of the UK.

This weekend we were under the influence of the Atlantic with some unsettled wet weather, particularly on Saturday. It felt like Autumn had arrived with a bang.After a dry August, the rain was welcomed by many gardens, although in Cumbria and parts of Wales, the rain was intense enough to result in some localised flooding. The first week in September on the other hand, sees a change in air mass and a change in wind direction with warm air pulling up from the continent.

With most of us returning to work tomorrow after the Christmas and New Year break, you will need to keep your umbrella to hand as low pressure will dominate through much of the week. There will be blustery showers on and off through the day tomorrow, so an unpleasant commute to and from work for some with the heaviest and most frequent showers in the west and along the south coast as well as a risk of thunder.
