Tracing the future: artificial intelligence and cephalometrics - Orthodontic Update

Abstract This narrative review describes the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in cephalometric tracing, comparing its accuracy, efficiency, and limitations to manual methods. AI significantly reduces analysis time, especially for novice tracers, and demonstrates high accuracy overall. However, the literature shows that errors persist, reflecting algorithmic and dataset biases. While AI can enhance clinical efficiency, presently it should complement, not replace, orthodontic expertise.

Improving orthodontic patients' and parents' information recall with use of audio-visual presentation and mind mapping exercises

Study population English-speaking patients aged 10 or older and parents with capacity to consent were given a 45-minute audio-visual presentation and written information on orthodontic treatment in one of three formats, either leaflets from British Orthodontic Society, generic mind map or blank mind maps.
