What was your first job as a journalist?
I started out writing independently on my own projects, but my first time writing for someone else’s project was at PSG Post, a FanSided website covering Paris Saint-Germain.
How is social media changing news?
Now every story needs a “hook,” something that grabs users’ attention in a ridiculously short time.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
For me, it means to research, inform, and entertain.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer that they always clarify if it’s a single article, how many words, and what the project is about.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Various CMS, Google Docs, Grammarly.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram.
Why did you become a journalist?
From an ethical standpoint, I wanted to inform without distorting the information or deceiving. From a selfish perspective, I wanted to dedicate myself to writing about topics I love, like sports.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Start working, even if it’s just for yourself. You need to gain experience as soon as possible.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. PT.
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I’d like to say exercising, but… on my couch, drinking coffee, and watching sports or comedy.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I like reading FanSided's sites, as those are mainly written by fans.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I don’t cover the NBA, NFL, or MLB—only the NHL and soccer.
