June 26 (UPI) -- A magnitude 5.8 earthquake rattled the Dominican Republic on Friday. Hours after, another 5.2 earthquake struck western Nicaragua, capping a week marked by intense seismic activity across several countries that left hundreds dead in Venezuela and triggered strong earthquakes across Asia and North America. A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck about 102 kilometers north-northeast of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
