Marc Fennell’s Biography
Marc Fennell is an Australian interviewer, journalist, tv/radio presenter, author, podcaster and Rose d’Or nominated documentary maker.
He has worked with the BBC, Audible, Showtime, Monocle, Triple J, Network Ten, ABC, SBS Australia, The Sydney Opera House and Red Bull. In 2019, Marc was named one of the 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian-Australians.
Fennell was introduced to global audiences this year when his Audible original podcast It Burns: The Scandal-Plagued Race to Breed the World’s Hottest Chilli bolted to the top of the USA Audible charts. The quirky, soulful documentary about pain and peppers was named one of the best podcasts of the year by The Times, Gizmodo & Esquire. It’s now been nominated for awards around the world (Rose d’Or, The AIB’s, Mumbrella Publish).
Marc has hosted SBS Australia’s national current affairs programme The Feed since 2013. He’s reported all around the world from the 2019 Hong Kong Protests to Sex in Japan to survivors of ISIS torture. Marc’s one-on-one interviews with celebrities and newsmakers like Al Gore, Tom Cruise, Julian Assange, Jennifer Lawrence have generated over 30 million online views and 3 United Nations Media Award Nominations.
Marc presents the award-winning ABC Australia podcast Download This Show. When it launched in 2012, Apple named it ‘Best New Podcast’. Since then it has won the IT Journalism Gold Lizzie Award (2015) and Best Technology Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards (2019)
Marc has written 2 books and can also be heard regularly filling in on the top-rating ABC Radio Sydney. He is the Creative Director of the not-for-profit group Media Diversity Australia.
