Also won an award for "Best News Features" in the 2016 College Broadcasters, Inc. awards. Story description: Glenn Kurtz tripped upon living history. While writing a fictional novel, Kurtz found an old film with ties to a pre-World War II town Poland. With some investigating, Kurtz was able to delve deep into the film’s history and the faces of the town. In December, Kurtz and representatives from the National Holocaust Memorial Museum talked to a crowd in downtown Chicago about his new book Three Minutes in Poland: Discovering a Lost World in a 1938 Family Film. In my story, I spoke with Kurtz and about the book and the unexpected impact discovering the film had.
