Global compilation of in situ particulate organic carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus concentrations in coastal and open ocean waters
Abstract We present a global compilation of in situ marine particulate organic carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus concentrations (POC, PON, and POP, respectively), from multiple sources to provide one of the most comprehensive collections of marine particulate organic matter (POM) to date. The dataset includes 155137 measurements (70586 POC, 69290 PON, and 15261 POP) from 25944 independent stations, more than doubling the number of previously available observations.
The land–ocean Arctic carbon cycle - Nature Reviews Earth & Environment
|
Abstract Anthropogenic climate warming is amplified in the Arctic, impacting the Arctic carbon cycle and its role in regulating climate and global biogeochemical cycles. In this Review, we provide a quantitative and comprehensive overview of the present-day Arctic carbon cycle across the land–ocean continuum. Terrestrial soil stocks total 877 ± 16 Pg C, with upper marine sediments containing 82 ± 35 Pg C.

2.4 Correspondence with ocean regionalizations In the second step, we aimed to capture the link between plankton communities and their environment. To assess various regionalizations ability to capture processes driving plankton ecology, the part of variance in plankton community composition explained by each was computed. This was performed analogously to the circadian or seasonal effects test.

Summertime Chlorophyll a and Particulate Organic Carbon Standing Stocks in Surface Waters of the Fram Strait and the Arctic Ocean (1991-2015)
Introduction The Arctic environment is in rapid transition and is severely impacted by climate change, with air temperatures increasing twice as fast in the Arctic as in other regions of the planet (Schiermeier, 2007; Serreze et al., 2007; IPCC, 2014, 2019). The effects of climate change are clearly visible in the Arctic Ocean (AO) through the recent massive reduction in sea ice volume and extent.
