Marc Schmidt’s Biography

One reason I got into the television field was to eventually put myself in a position to write and produce a great story idea i've had since high school. As you can imagine, realizing this dream …

by Marc Schmidt · Published April 23, 2020 · Updated April 23, 2020 Recently my wife told me “we should have something to document this time in our lives”. It was at that moment that I haha revealed that I had been planning to do just that. As of early March, I knew that what was going on in the world was a big deal, but by the middle of the month, so much had already happened to me personally that I only knew of one way to deal with it: write a new blog post.

by Marc Schmidt · Published February 26, 2020 · Updated February 26, 2020 One of the good things about living in such an open society today is that people don’t stand for bullying as much as they once did. Sure, it still happens. It probably always will happen, but people atleast talk about it and try to do more about it than they did when I was a kid. Back in the 80’s and 90’s I spent many days on the playground by myself. I can’t count how many lunches I ate alone.

Personally, the early 90’s is filled with a treasure trove of lost hits and artists that have been long forgotten about. I’ll be the first to admit that I swept this era of music under the rug for many years myself. Between the awesome synthesized sounds of the 80’s and the edgy, fresh sounds of grunge and hip hop 90’s lies that era that happened right in the middle. From approximately 1990 to about 1992/1993, we saw and heard quite a transformation in popular music.

What was your first job as a journalist?

My blog is my first journalism job. I probably should have majored in journalism instead of tv production.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Believe it or not, I learned how to type on a typewriter in 9th grade. This was right before the internet really took off In the mid 90s.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

At this point, I use Wordpress and my camera. Looking to expand my horizons as my blog grows.
