The university-wide commencement ceremony is held at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. where an estimated 8,000 graduates will hear former Longhorns QB Colt McCoy deliver the keynote address. An additional 50,000 guests were expected in attendance.

Police investigate homicide in northwest Austin Friday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police officers were on the scene of a homicide near Wallace Drive and Gardenridge Hollow Friday evening. Austin Police said a 911 call came in just after 6 p.m. Arriving officers found a man with “apparent trauma” and rendered aid until Austin-Travis County EMS arrived. At 6:45 p.m., the man was pronounced deceased. Officers later confirmed the victim was suffering from a gunshot wound.
