What was your first job as a journalist?
My first gig as a staff journalist was at my college newspaper—The Columbia Chronicle.
How is social media changing news?
People want quick, easy-to-digest bites and headlines that they can keep in the back of their mind. The news has to be as mobile as they are.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be journalist is to be a storyteller. To make the world smaller and more tangible for those you love and those you will never meet.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Take an assignment out of your comfort zone—there is always something to learn out there.
What's your favorite drink?
Good, ol' fashioned, ice-cold water.
