What was your first job as a journalist?
To write a feature about a cycle race, which involved interviewing the former Irish professional racer, Sean Kelly. I was sooo nervous!
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes - about 25 years ago. I used to love using one, especially when the bell went at the end of a line!
How is social media changing news?
People can receive the news so much quicker than before, but unfortunately some of it is not properly verified!
What does it mean to be a journalist?
The chance to find out about other lives around the world, and communicate their stories to different communities.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Dictaphone, smartphone apps, social media
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram, because it's democratic. You just upload your photos and anyone can like it, regardless of who they are. No comments are needed.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked for the campus radio station when I was at university.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A feature looking at the issues faced by retiring professional athletes. This is an important area that is only just getting coverage.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't be afraid to put yourself forward to editors, and don't get disheartened if your pitches are rejected or your emails go unanswered.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A feature which involved interviewing the cycling legend, Jens Voigt. I was excited and nervous at the same time!
What's your favorite drink?
Prosecco, but I try not to overdo it!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Either running along a forest trail or cycling down a country lane.

The Economist
