INTRODUCTION Global livestock farming has steadily increased over the last decades, particularly in developing countries, and this has resulted in significant environmental degradation, including widespread deforestation (Armenteras et al., 2013; Ilea, 2009). Deforestation continues to increase in the Amazonian regions of Colombia where it can be twice that of the continental average (González-González et al., 2021; Murad & Pearse, 2018).
