Search for sunken boat off Richmond 'challenging'

Water conditions have been "challenging" as the Richmond RCMP tries to recover a vessel that sunk on Sunday. The vessel with 10 people on board sank in the Georgia Strait on Sunday, June 28. Four people were rescued but six others weren't located and presumed drowned. Due to the challenging conditions, the search has been slow and difficult, said Richmond RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Frank Bryson.

A traffic stop in Burnaby in the summer of 2025 has led to raids at five Richmond sites where precursor chemicals, firearms, cash and contraband cigarettes were confiscated. Burnaby RCMP stopped a vehicle in July 2025 and seized about four kilograms of precursor chemicals often used in making fentanyl.
