TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3-seeded Florida State soccer team defeated Samford 4-0 on Friday evening in the NCAA Tournament First Round at the Seminole Soccer Complex. Making its 26th NCAA Tournament appearance, all consecutively since 2000, FSU advances to the Second Round for the 25th time overall and the 21st year in a row. The Seminoles improve to 84-19-6 all-time in NCAA play and 25-0-1 in the First Round.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 7 Florida State soccer team extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to seven with a 4-0 victory at Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium. The Seminoles (6-0-1, 2-0-0 ACC) registered their sixth shutout in seven games this season, with multi-goal victories in all six wins.

Florida State now owns a 8-0-1 series advantage over the Orange, improving to 4-0-1 at Syracuse in the series. HOW THE MATCH WAS DECIDED After a back-and-forth first half, the Seminoles finally found the breakthrough on the brink of halftime. At the 42:43 mark, fifth-year midfielder Marianyela Jimenez picked up the ball outside the box and played it through multiple Syracuse defenders.
