What did you want to be when you were a kid? From the moment I could toddle up to around eleven years old, I wanted to be an architect. Every summer, my parents took my sister and me on vacation to Montauk Point. I didn’t come from a wealthy family, and this was back in the 1970s, when Montauk was just a fishing village with a few motels. On the way there, we would pass through these very fancy towns in the Hamptons, and I thought the houses were the coolest things I’d ever seen.
