The heat wave didn’t stop locals from traveling around Marblehead to see the Arts Festival’s exhibits Thursday, July 2. The 60th Marblehead Arts Festival exhibits featured about 500 artworks from local artists, categorized into drawings, photography, printmaking and more. “It’s a big showcase opportunity for budding artists to come and show their art,” said Maggie Smist, festival co-chair. Smist added that this year saw a 10% increase in submissions over last year.

“Voicemails for Isabelle” is a 2026 Netflix film. When Jill loses her little sister, Isabelle, she still leaves voicemails for her. Only the phone messages link to Wes, who seeks Jill. They start a romance while picking up missing pieces. “Voicemails for Isabelle” is a powerful movie. The storyline about a woman leaving voicemails for her late sister gave me all the feels, reminding me of my late aunt. As much as I enjoyed the film, it should have had a completely different storyline.

The course of true love never did run smooth. William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is coming to the grassy stages of North Shore Players (NSP). The play revolves around several characters; lovers, fairies, and performers, who get lost in an enchanted forest. Their chaotic night results in love affairs, conflicts, and reconciliation.
