Letter to the Editor: Another point of view
No abortion at any time for any reason. Total lack of choice. No immigration from the southern border. Children separated from parents. No right to adoption by gay couples. No right to birth control. A removal of a path to citizenship for DACA. Suppression of voting by minorities. “These are just of few of the controversial matters that are decided by the nine people who call themselves members of the U.S. Supreme Court.” Editor, you have a tendency to cite the most extreme positions of the left.
Letter: ‘Few’ subject to inheritance tax
In a recent press release, Sen. John Thune said that one of the first pieces of legislation he introduced was his bill to repeal the death tax. He cited the American Farm Bureau saying thousands of South Dakota farms and ranches would be subject to the death tax today. This is blatantly untrue and Senator Thune must know that. There may be thousands of farms and ranches that pay some federal income tax, but only a very few would be subject to the inheritance tax.
Letter: Elect Paula Hawks for Congress
Rep. Kristi Noem should be asked at every appearance how she explains Donald Trump and her support of him? She also should be asked why she left the Agriculture Committee that is so important to South Dakota? It defies logic. If Hillary Clinton is elected president, will Noem renew her pledge to oppose anything the president proposes? The United States needs progress and compromise and we cannot let this gridlock continue. If you cannot vote for Trump, do not vote for Noem, either.
Letter: Republicans rally against Hillary Clinton
I was not surprised that Sen. John Thune supported Donald Trump for president, as most Republicans have rallied behind the nominee of their party. What amazed me was that Thune claimed Trump would do a better job of addressing terrorist threats and the country would be safer. As Hillary Clinton said in a televised speech June 2, Trump has a very thin skin and a dangerously incoherent foreign policy that could lead to war.
