ABSTRACT Background Human Endogenous Retroviruses (HERVs) compose about 8% of the genome. Although mostly silenced, they can be activated and may contribute to autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, it is unclear whether HERV expression influences gait patterns in RA. Objective To assess HERV-W and HERV-K expression levels and their relationship with gait parameters in RA patients. Methods Cross-sectional case-control study with 32 participants (22 RA patients, 10 controls).

1 Introduction Obesity is a chronic, multifactorial disease influenced by environmental, biological, psychosocial and socioeconomic factors [1]. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is characterised by excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue, which typically contains around 40% of the body's macrophages—a proportion that is closely linked to the extent of tissue inflammation [2].

Aim To evaluate the lipid-lowering and antiplatelet combined strategies on the expression of the receptors CCR2, CCR5, and CX3CR1 and the percentage of CCR2, CCR5, and CX3CR1 cells in monocyte subtypes after acute myocardial infarction. Methods Prospective, randomized, open-label study, with blinded analyses of endpoints (PROBE, ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02428374, registration date: April 28, 2015).
