Employers will be required to take all reasonable means to prevent any type of discrimination or harassment against a person who has little or no command of a language other than French and, if such conduct is brought to their attention, to make it cease. Barring individual employment contracts governed by the requirements set out above, contracts of adhesion, with some exceptions, and related documents will have to be drawn up in French.

The Corporate Finance division of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) recently released its fourth annual Summary of Oversight and Regulatory Activities (Report). Along with an overview of Quebec’s capital markets, the Report provides guidance for Quebec issuers and outlines the AMF’s expectations regarding regulations applicable to reporting issuers in Quebec.
