Florida A&M University (FAMU) students Tanzania Ralph, Theresa Ballard, Phyillisity Walters and Michelle Johnson partnered with The Center for Interpersonal Violence Intervention and Prevention (CIVIP) to host “Shatter the Stigma.” “Shatter the Stigma,” was held on April 3 in the Rattlers Den to raise awareness of sexual assault, eliminate violence on FAMU’s campus and assist students in building a support system.

Organizations at Florida A&M University (FAMU) including Progressive Black Men, Inc., S.I.S.T.U.H.S., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Active Minds hosted a silent march on April 5 in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month to support survivors of sexual assault and/or abuse. Staff, faculty, and students gathered around the eternal flame after marching through campus silently.

Tallahassee is known as home to two of the most prestigious colleges on different sides of the tracks: Florida A & M and Florida State. One is among the greatest HBCUs in the land; the other is one of the state’s only two preeminent universities and is also known for athletic excellence. But as many of the residents who live in Tallahassee know, their city can get crazier than it may appear to be the surface.
