What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote a small clip for a local newspaper called

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, I began writing using a Brother typewriter that my husband bought me in the Ramey Base Exchange in 1985.

How is social media changing news?

News no longer is static, but totally dynamic with the views of hundreds or thousands at a time. Who enrich and contribute to it.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Murphy Brown just because she's a girl.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

What dreams are made of.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Marco Rubio's take on immigration reform, specially knowing that his grandfather was an alien for about five years.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Through a short synopsis (2 page maximum) and a sample reading to see if the story is engaging enough to hit the "buy" button.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Calibre and Sigil basically because they are free and easy to use.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter, because it's short and sweet.

Who do you wish followed you?

In this stage of my writing career I appreciate anyone who follows me.

Why did you become a journalist?

What can I say? Writing about what's happening around us is my passion. It's what makes my world turn every day.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

My high school didn't have a newspaper.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

An article I wrote about how we've lost the power of dealing with major issues like hunger, poverty or the homeless.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I'm an aspiring journalist myself, so I would tell myself, "always strive on excellence and just keep writing".

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime is a good time for me.
