Introduction In 2020, as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus rapidly spread worldwide, hospitals and medical schools scrambled to adjust and rethink their approach to medical education and patient care. At that time, we were the equivalent of a patient being rushed to the operating room, however, we could not have predicted all the ways that this pandemic would change children's surgical care.

Introduction The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has indisputably changed every aspect of our lives from both personal and professional perspectives. The medical field and emergency first responders have been at the front line of the pandemic from the start, and they remain the most affected and perhaps the hardest-hit field.
