The seventh-ranked Northeastern University Huskies’ bid for a fourth straight Beanpot championship ended in a dogfight with the Boston University Terriers at Walter Brown Arena Tuesday night. The underdog Terriers knocked out Northeastern 2-1, on an overtime power-play goal by BU’s Maeve Carey in the semifinal round of the 47th Annual Dunkin’ Women’s Beanpot. “Congrats to BU, hard-fought win,” said Northeastern head coach Dave Flint. “I think we gave fans an exciting game to watch.

Former Northeastern pitcher Cam Schlittler makes MLB postseason history

In a win-or-go-home Wild Card round game in the American League playoffs Thursday night, former Northeastern University righthander Cam Schlittler dominated. The 6-foot-6 flamethrower tossed eight shutout innings to lead the New York Yankees to a 4-0 win over the Boston Red Sox, Schlittler’s favorite team as a kid growing up in the Boston area. Schlittler struck out 12, the most ever by a Yankees pitcher in a postseason debut.

Northeastern and Dana-Farber team up to train the next generation of oncology nurses

In the midst of a global nursing shortage combined with a growing need for oncology patient care, Northeastern University and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have launched a first-of-its-kind partnership to strengthen the oncology nursing workforce. At the center is a joint faculty model that provides Dana-Farber nurse scientists with academic appointments at Northeastern — the first such arrangement in Dana-Farber’s history.
