Walls FLORENCE — Bruce Walls stood before the council for the last time as town manager on June 16. When the council meets next on Aug. 4, Walls will have retired. Walls thanked the council and the previous council for the opportunity to serve as manager. “It’s been great having personal conversations with each of you — the hollering and screaming, I don’t know if I’ll miss that so much. Ball court and more planned at renovated Florence park

FLORENCE — Main Street Park — still resembling the state highway rest stop it once was — will receive a basketball goal and more following the direction of the Town Council. In other business, the council held off on a suggestion to offer a columbarium while the town regains control of irrigation at the Florence Cemetery. Main Street Park at 700 S. Main St. will receive a basketball half-court, upgrades to two existing ramadas, better irrigation and security lighting and improved landscaping.

The following was taken from the records at the Florence Police Department. An officer responded to Circle K on Hunt Highway for a private property accident around 3:50 p.m. on May 22. A woman at the scene reported a black truck backed out in front of her and she turned to avoid hitting the truck and pressed her brakes. However, her vehicle accelerated and she hit a pole and hit the building. She denied having any health problems and denied having consumed any drugs or alcohol.
