Mark Gould’s Biography

As an artist, I believe that the spaces we inhabit have the power to shape our inner worlds. That's why I’m continuously exploring the interplay between color, form, and composition in my work - to create environments that foster meditation, growth, and renewal. In my art, I explore the ways in which the lines, grids, shapes, and colors in our lives interact, oftentimes subconsciously. Our spaces are also often defined by our relationship with others – it’s these invisible social landscapes that add so much depth and richness to our lives – if we can get in touch with it.

I find a lot of similarities between my art process and writing process. Looking for cultural trends, deciding how to communicate about it, then creating a composition. I’m a former journalist and like to write about art, technology and culture. I write about artists and their work, cultural trends, media and technology.

For many years, I was a journalist and editor. I(n 2024, I’ve suited up to fight the battle against misinformation and politicized media, using journalistic, evidence-based principles to examine the media world we live in, and examining how to return to a shared vision of facts and verifiability.

Outdoors, I’m inspired by mountains and the sea, and there’s plenty of that to see in the Pacific Northwest. The changes in light and season reveal infinite palettes that are always astonishing.
