From Camden's mound to Wembley's pitch, the Rams end a unique week against the Jaguars overseas
Matthew Stafford is going from the mound to the pitch. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback and teammates took turns throwing off the rubber at Camden Yards this week. Stafford had safety Quentin Lake squatting behind home plate when he harkened to his high school days with a windup. He didn’t light up the radar gun, but he delivered a strike. Stafford hopes to be as accurate when the Rams (4-2) play the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) at iconic Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.
No. 6 Florida gets leading scorer Walter Clayton Jr. back for game at top-ranked Auburn Original
No. 6 Florida gets leading scorer Walter Clayton Jr. back for game at top-ranked Auburn 1 of 4 | Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. (1) loses control of the ball as he drives against Tennessee guard Darlinstone Dubar (8) and Jahmai Mashack during the second half of an NCAA college basketball game Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Bowls miss out in 4 CFP teams in latest postseason twist
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Greg McGarity had reason to be concerned. The Gator Bowl president kept a watchful eye on College Football Playoff scenarios all season and understood the fallout might affect his postseason matchup in Jacksonville. What if the Southeastern Conference got five teams into the expanded CFP? What if the Atlantic Coast Conference landed three spots? It was a math problem that was impossible to truly answer, even into late November.
Mac Jones finds ‘great joy in competition’ as he vies for a backup role with his hometown Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — It’s easy to spot Mac Jones on Jacksonville’s practice fields. He’s the one dancing between plays. Shimmying. Shaking. Strutting. Smiling. The 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft is clearly enjoying his new role with his hometown team. After being the third Jaguars quarterback to take the field in last week’s preseason opener against Kansas City, Jones is expected to start against Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Newly signed Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson in search of a different number after 2 days of camp
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Veteran NFL safety Tashaun Gipson is already hunting for a new number. Gipson was handed No. 47 — the only jersey available for his position group — when he arrived for training camp practice in Jacksonville on Monday. It looked and felt awkward for the 13th-year pro who spent three previous seasons (2016-18) wearing No. 39 for the Jaguars.

Stewart-Haas Racing said Preece was headed back to North Carolina after getting clearance from doctors at Halifax Health Medical Center.

Mobile Mavens: Activision Blizzard: So what will happen next?
Microsoft’s bid to acquire Activision Blizzard, which, if finalised, would be the biggest acquisition in gaming history with a massive sum of $68.7 billion, has been rumbling forwards and continues to be a hot topic with implications all across the gaming industry. The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority blocked the deal citing the reason that Microsoft could dominate and control the cloud gaming market.
Florida schools, South Carolina move home games ahead of Ian
By MARK LONG AP Sports Writer GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida, South Carolina and South Florida are taking steps to salvage home football games as Hurricane Ian approaches. The Gators moved their game against Eastern Washington from Saturday to Sunday just before a slate of NFL games begin. The Gamecocks will host South Carolina State on Thursday night, two days earlier than previously scheduled. And the Bulls relocated their Saturday game against East Carolina from Tampa, Florida, to Boca Raton.
Florida schools, South Carolina move home games ahead of Ian
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Three Sunshine State universities took steps Tuesday to salvage home football games as Hurricane Ian approached. Florida moved its game against Eastern Washington from Saturday to Sunday. Central Florida did the same with its game against SMU. South Florida relocated its Saturday game against East Carolina from Tampa, Florida, to Boca Raton.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Doug Pederson spent his first four months in Jacksonville trying to build trust with players. He was open and honest, working to help the Jaguars "heal" from one of the most toxic coaching tenures in NFL history. Pederson's latest move should help him curry even more favor. The head coach canceled next week's three-day, mandatory minicamp - at least for most of the team. No practices. No meetings. Not even a weightlifting session.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Parked a few feet from the iconic pagoda at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a reimagined E-Z-Go golf cart that's essentially filled with garbage. Plastic bottles tossed into recycling bins months ago are now neatly stacked in rows - and they're for sale. The electric cart houses hundreds of Indy 500 T-shirts made from waste. The clothes are as soft as anything on the shelves in the regular merchandise stores and cost roughly the same.
Kicker's lawsuit could shed light on Meyer's time with Jags
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Placekicker Josh Lambo's lawsuit against the Jacksonville Jaguars could uncover more details about former coach Urban Meyer's tumultuous NFL tenure.
Jags, LT Robinson agree to 3-year, $54M extension
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars essentially ruled out taking a left tackle with the top pick in the NFL draft by agreeing to terms with veteran Cam Robinson on a three-year extension Wednesday. Robinson's new deal totals just shy of $54 million, roughly $18 million a year, according to a person familiar with negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side made details public.
Jaguars trying to become 1st to nail back-to-back top picks
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke turned toward coach Doug Pederson, smiled widely and said, "I'm pretty confident this will be the last time that I'll be making the first pick." History indicates he's right. No team or general manager in the NFL's modern era (since 1970) has drafted No. 1 in three straight years. Tampa Bay would have done it as a fledgling expansion franchise in 1976-78, but the Buccaneers traded the top pick in 1978 to Houston.
Jaguars fielding no offers for top pick, narrow choice to 4
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars are open to trading the No. 1 pick in next week's NFL draft, something they never would have considered a year ago. This time, though, there's little, if any, interest. "Nobody's called directly," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said Friday, less than one week before the draft. So Baalke is preparing to make the top selection for the second straight year. His first one was a no-brainer: Clemson star quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville followed its free-agent spending spree with a cost-saving move: cutting veteran linebacker and defensive captain Myles Jack on Tuesday. The Jaguars created more than $8 million in salary-cap space by releasing Jack, who started 82 games over the last six seasons and will forever be remembered in franchise lore for quickly - and possibly erroneously - being ruled down following a New England fumble in the fourth quarter of the 2018 AFC championship game.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - No one should be calling Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke a clown right now. Baalke and the Jaguars opened the NFL's legal tampering period Monday with a huge splash by agreeing to sign six starters, including Arizona slot receiver Christian Kirk, Washington guard Brandon Scherff, New York Giants tight end Evan Engram and Las Vegas receiver Zay Jones.
New Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson announced his full staff Thursday, with Press Taylor as offensive coordinator and Mike Caldwell as defensive coordinator. Heath Farwell will be special teams coordinator, Mike McCoy quarterbacks coach and Jim Bob Cooter passing game coordinator. It's a staff filled with NFL experience, a much different approach than former coach Urban Meyer tried last year.

How (not) to approach persistence testing in Java and Groovy
Testing persistence is one of the most frequently encountered types of integration test. If done incorrectly it can mean death to a suite of tests because they will run slowly and be incredibly brittle. One of the most common antipatterns encountered is to test everything by reference to a single monolithic fixture containing an ever-growing volume of data that attempts to cater to every corner-case.

How to ship production-grade Go
Shipping a production grade Go application is not the same as shipping a Go application.
