Web Exclusive After too long of an absence, Azniv Korkejian (aka Bedouine) is returning with her first album of new material since 2019’s Bird Songs of a Killjoy. A placeholder of earlier works, Waysides, was recorded and released in 2021, but Neon Summer Skin hits with fresh songs and cohesively so. The album was inspired by Korkejian’s return to her childhood home in Saudi Arabia to visit her parents before their impending retirement to Armenia.

Issue #75 - The ’90s Issue Part 2 Featuring Pulp and Suede There may be a touch of irony in the title of Greg Mendez’s new album, but beauty no doubt abounds in all corners of it. Without Mendez’s surefire melodic touch, his hangdog tales might run towards the maudlin. But in his world all things come matter of factly and are worth supplementing with a hook filled, high falsetto chorus.

Web Exclusive Kevin Morby’s new album Little Wide Open is both a love letter and a goodbye to his Midwestern roots. So starting our conversation, with Morby Zooming in from Los Angeles, talking about the war in Iran, may seem like a strange place to begin. The conflict was only a few days old when we connected and news of the first American casualties had just broken. Though a small sample, more than half of those that died early on were from the Midwest: Nebraska, Minnesota, two from Iowa.
