The city of Brownsville is looking for a new top cop as its current chief transitions into focusing full-time as one of the city's two deputy city managers. Brownsville Mayor John Cowen Jr. confirmed via a text message that Chief Felix Sauceda remains in charge of the police department during the search and that once a new chief is hired, Sauceda will work full-time as a deputy city manager instead of managing both positions. The chief was appointed to the position in 2023.

Roma blames foul-smelling water on 'border-security infrastructure' work

The city of Roma says complaints of foul, unusual smells in the municipality's water follow "border-security infrastructure" work and "law enforcement activity in the river near the City's raw-water intake." In a Wednesday news release, the city said the Roma Public Water System has been responding to reports of the odors "in portions of the water distribution system" since Monday.
