The FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals continues today with two matches in the U.S. Norway takes on England at Miami Stadium and Argentina and Switzerland take to the pitch at Kansas City Stadium. After not playing in the World Cup in 28 years, Norway has made it to the quarterfinals. Norway previously played in the World Cup in 1938, 1994, and 1998, where they made it to the Round of 16. The team is led by Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland and Arsenal midfield wizard Martin Odegaard.

A Lake Tahoe got quite the surprise on July 4 after he encountered a bear outside his cabin. The encounter was captured on home security footage provided by Cortlandt Koerwitz to Storyful, and shows the man using bear spray to deter the bear. Koerwitz told Storyful that he was getting ready to spend a day on his boat with his family when he noticed the bear. "I went into the garage to investigate, and had grabbed a canister of bear spray that we keep by the garage door.

America 250: Winners of American Heroes Student Art Contest honored at ceremony in Washington, DC

The winners of the Freedom 250 and National Endowment for the Humanities National American Heroes Student Art Contest were honored during a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on July 8. For the contest, students chose an American hero from the National Garden of American Heroes, which includes men and women from all walks of life who have helped to shape our nation over the last 250 years and created an original, handmade two-dimensional artwork and a 200-word artist statement.
