Writing for a technical journal out of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Letting people know what is going on that they may not have heard of or heard before but did not fully understand.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email first and then phone.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
MS Word as well as online resources. I sometimes reach out by phone to pick people's brains.
What's your favorite social network?
Parler but I have not been able to get back on it since it went down. I am also on Gab and Mewe.
Who do you wish followed you?
Anybody with a brain.
Why did you become a journalist?
I voted for Richard Nixon in the first election I was old enough to vote for. I admired how journalists exposed him and took him out.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not but I did contribute some letters to the editor about hot button topics.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The one I submitted in my Portfolio here... how trees randomly falling can take life and property and people never think about it.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
The field has changed. If you are open and honest, you probably will not go far. Peddle the hype of the owners.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Evenings.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
They were all pretty bad.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
To do a job for people I could tell knew nothing about what they wanted or were doing up in Madison, Wisconsin.
What's your favorite drink?
Craft beers... too many to list.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Working out in my yard or out on my Harley motorcycle.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I follow Fox News as well as other conservative news sources such as OAN.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
No sure I have an answer for this and your online form will not allow me to skip it.
