An Oswego man has been charged following a domestic disturbance last month that escalated into an armed incident where the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot police officers. Kasey W. Bawden, 44, was taken into custody early Thursday, according to a news release from the Oswego Police Department. He is charged with one count of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault. The charges stem from an incident that began at approximately 12:54 a.m. on Sept. 25.

The Wilmington City Council approved a three-year agreement with Zeiler Amusements to provide carnival rides, games, and concessions for the city’s annual Catfish Days Festival. The contract covers the 2027, 2028 and 2029 festivals, with Zeiler Amusements scheduled to operate the midway during the 2027 event from July 22-25. Under the agreement, Zeiler Amusements will pay festival organizers 25% of gross ride sales after deductions for fuel and liability insurance surcharges.

Multiple roadways were closed late Thursday afternoon following “a serious crash” in Kendall County near the intersection of Walker Road and Ashley Road, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash took place in Kendall Township.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon says the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution would be “public.” Hegseth, speaking to the conservative TV outlet Real America’s Voice News on Wednesday, said the execution of Hasan will take place at Fort Hood on Dec. 3. Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others in a shooting at the military base in 2009.

Chicago Bears coordinators met with reporters Thursday at Halas Hall in Lake Forest as the team continued to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. The Bears are feeling good even without starting quarterback Caleb Williams. Their offense has looked efficient over the past two games with backups Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum each starting a game. Meanwhile, the defense has put together three straight good performances after a disappointing start to the season.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum will open the gates of the Old Joliet Prison for self-guided tours under the cover of darkness, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the site’s complex history in a unique way. The tours take place between 6:30 and 10 p.m., Thursday to Saturday through the end of October.

The Chicago Bears got some of their offensive playmakers back Thursday as they prepared for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Running back D’Andre Swift (hip/knee), right guard Jonah Jackson (ankle), left guard Joe Thuney (pectoral) and Darnell Wright (ankle) all returned to practice Thursday after they were out the previous day. Each of them practiced in limited fashion.

A 59-year-old homeless man is facing aggravated battery charges after police said he attacked another man with a pipe near downtown late last month. According to a Kankakee police report, the attack took place in the late morning or early afternoon of Sept. 30 on the 600 block of East Oak Street. Police interviewed the victim in his hospital bed Sept. 30. The victim told police he was walking on the street when a man he identified as Heath W.

A single-family residence, built in 1952, has changed hands. The home at 303 Prairie Street in Spring Valley was sold on Sept. 21. The purchase price was $145,000. The property occupies a lot of 8,500 square feet. Other homes in Spring Valley that have recently been purchased close by include: · A single-family home at 109 Central Street, sold in October 2025, for $145,500. · At 103 Elm Street, in September 2025, a single-family house was sold for $189,000.

CHICAGO — Illinois bettors lost more money than ever last year, according to a new state report. State coffers, meanwhile, went in the opposite direction, collecting a record $2.7 billion in gambling-related revenue — a 19.2% increase from the previous year. It marks a 90% increase from fiscal year 2019, the final year before the state approved a massive gambling expansion aimed at raising revenue for the state’s ongoing capital infrastructure plan.
