CHICAGO – Gov. JB Pritzker signed a pair of bills Thursday aimed at improving transparency of utility billing and expanding access to discounts for low-income residents. “Illinois has made historic investments to strengthen our energy system while returning savings to consumers,” Pritzker said in a statement announcing the bill signing.

A Batavia girl was identified by family as the third child who died in a Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, boating accident last week. A GoFundMe set up by her family named the child as Kate Schmidt. Family previously identified the other two children as siblings Abigail Oswald, 7, and Caleb Oswald, 6. The Schmidt family GoFundMe said Kate was a cousin of the Oswalds.
