The National Weather Service in State College on Tuesday evening confirmed what many Manor Township residents already suspected: their neighborhood was hit by a tornado. Amid work crews and damage appraisers, residents earlier in the day along Sutherland Drive were recounting close calls when high winds and pounding rain during a Thursday storm took out trees, scattered shingles and ripped a gaping hole in one roof.

National Weather Service to see if 2nd tornado landed in Lancaster County last week

Experts from the National Weather Service were expected to return to western Lancaster County on Tuesday to see if a third tornado touched down along with confirmed twisters that heavily damaged buildings in Columbia and at Eastern York High School outside Wrightsville last week. Jake Lambrech, a meteorologist with the weather agency in State College, said early Tuesday that videos and photos of storm damage have prompted the need for a follow-up inspection.
