Swathes of hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur emission surround nebulae like the Bubble (NGC 7635), the Wizard (NGC 7380), and the Elephant Trunk in IC 1396. The imager compiled 123 hours of exposure in the Hubble palette through a 135mm f/2.8 lens.

There were plenty of exciting events, from launch to lunar flyby to splashdown. But for me, the most thrilling moments weren’t what we saw. It was what we heard when the crew reacted to those sights: the farside of the Moon, a total solar eclipse, our own home planet.

Skip to content Piotr Czerski, taken from Trzonów, Poland Galaxies M81 and M82 lie amid large clouds of galactic cirrus — dust that lies in our own Milky Way Galaxy and is lit by the galaxy’s overall, ambient glow. Around 2° to the west lies the Vulcan Nebula (WPS 46). The imager used a 2.8-inch f/5 scope and one-shot color camera, to obtain 72.6 hours of data, some of which was taken with an Hα/OIII dual-band filter.
