1. Introduction Future emission-free long-distance commercial aircraft have to use the synergies between distributed electric drives and aerodynamic improvements to save energy, as proposed in [1,2]. The study [3] is based on the proposals of [1,2] and illustrates the multi-fidelity design optimization of the long-range blended wing body in the sustainable and energy-efficient aviation (Project: Strategy-EXC 2163/1, SE2A consortium; Figure 1).
