The subjective symptoms of functional/dissociative seizures (FDS) are variable intra- and intersubjectively. Six domains of FDS symptoms emerged across 47 studies: sensory, arousal, emotional, consciousness-related, cognitive, and motor symptoms. Sensory symptoms/pain, arousal, and emotional symptoms are most frequently reported (especially pain/headache, hyperarousal, and anxiety). The dissociation of awareness and responsiveness may hold diagnostic value and warrants further study.
