Hubbard dimer physics and the magnetostructural transition in the correlated cluster material Nb 3 Cl 8
Abstract We present a combined computational and experimental study of Nb3Cl8, a correlated layered material containing Nb trimers, through the lens of competing intra- and intercluster interactions. Different proposed explanations for its magnetostructural transition, such as charge disproportionation, antiferromagnetic quenching, and interlayer singlet formation, are investigated in light of the various reported low-temperature structures.
From Heterocubane Units to Extended Networks: Synthesis, Structure, and Optical Properties of Pb9O2I8(CN2)3 and Pb16O5I14(CN2)4
1 Introduction The chemistry of lead and tin compounds incorporating oxide, halide, and carbodiimide ions has attracted considerable interest due to their structural diversity. Low-valent main group elements such as Pb2+ and Sn2+ are particularly notable in this context, as their stereochemical active lone pairs often give rise to anisotropic coordination environments and unusual bonding topologies.

Synthesis, Structure, and Eu3+‐Activated Photoluminescence of the Mixed‐Anion Carbodiimide NaLa2F3(CN2)2
1 Introduction The exploration of rare-earth (RE) carbodiimide compounds has advanced significantly in recent years, largely driven by the development of solid-state metathesis (SSM) reactions. These enable efficient access to RE-carbodiimides under moderate thermal conditions, avoiding high-pressure or solution-based routes [1].
Single‐Source Cyanurate Precursor for Making Manganese Carbodiimide and the Second Harmonic Generation Effect of the Intermediate Manganese Monohydrocyanurate Mn(HC3N3O3)
1 Introduction Calcium carbodiimide (Ca(CN2)) was originally prepared by reacting calcium carbide (CaC2) with nitrogen gas (N2) at high temperatures [1, 2]. Therein, Ca(CN2) appears as a dark powder, reflecting an impure product due to residual carbon and oxide impurities. Alternatively, the cyanurate route uses calcium cyanurate as a precursor for the thermal conversion into pure and bright white calcium carbodiimide [3].
Characterizing Gallium Dinitridocarbonates: A Focus on LiGa(CN2)2, Li13.6Ga2.8(CN2)10I2, and SrGa2(CN2)4
1 Introduction Group 13 nitride (III–V) semiconductors have emerged as strong candidates in a multitude of electronic and optoelectronic applications.[1] For example, InxGa1-xN alloys span band gaps ranging from approximately 0.7 eV (InN)[2] to 3.4 eV (GaN),[3] making this material useful for light-emitting diodes and laser diodes.[4] Metal dinitridocarbonates, which are more commonly referred to as carbodiimides (NCN)2– or cyanamides (N≡C–N)2– have been successfully established as...

Influence of the Counterion on the Activation of Nickel(σ-Aryl) Precatalysts Original
Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Nickel catalysis has emerged as an expedient tool for C–X bond formation, (1) enabling transformations and electrophiles that are unfeasible with other metal catalysts, such as palladium. (2) However, a big draw-back of nickel is the low availability of nickel(0) precursors, which are expensive and often highly sensitive toward air and moisture, which limits larger scale applications.

Introduction The discovery of melamine by Justus von Liebig was fundamental for the development of several fields of chemistry.
The Rectangular Niobium Oxyiodide Cluster Nb4OI10 – A Narrow Band‐Gap Semiconductor
Introduction Metal-rich niobium halides are known to form cluster compounds with various architectures and oxidation states.1 Well-known examples include the Peierls-distorted chain structure of NbX4,2 triangular niobium clusters in Nb3X8 (X=Cl, Br, I)3 and the octahedral niobium cluster compounds Nb6Cl144 and Nb6I11.5 Beyond these most common clusters, there exist numerous ternary niobium halide cluster compounds.
Crystallization of the Fundamental Tetracyanamidometallates Li4[Si(CN2)4] and Li4[Ge(CN2)4] from Polymeric Li‐T‐(NCN)‐I Precursors (T=Si, Ge)
Introduction The lithium salts Li3(NBN), Li(OCN) (or K(OCN)), and Li2(NCN) are distinguished reagents for the development of nitridoborates, cyanurates, and dinitridocarbonates. The preparation of members of all these families of compounds can be accomplished by straightforward solid-state metathesis (SSM) reactions of appropriate portions of a metal halide and the respective lithium reagent, outlined in reactions (1)–4.

The Remarkably Robust, Photoactive Tungsten Iodide Cluster [W6I12(NCC6H5)2]
Graphical Abstract The reported compound [W6I12(NCC6H5)2] is a remarkably stable cluster compound with a band gap in the region of 2 eV (semiconductor) and is showing potential for photocatalytic applications. Abstract The new heteroleptic tungsten iodide cluster compound [W6I12(NCC6H5)2] is presented. The synthesis is carried-out from Cs2W6I14 and ZnI2 under solvothermal conditions in benzonitrile solution, yielding red cube-shaped crystals.
