INTRODUCTION The dose is decisive for the patch test response provided that the test technique and the occlusion time are constant.1 Since decades the recommended occlusion time is 48 h2, 3 and recently a petrolatum dose of 20 mg (40 mg/cm2) was recommended.3, 4 This study was initiated to elucidate the significance of the petrolatum dose for the patch test results.

1 INTRODUCTION Contact allergy (CA) among athletes and ice hockey players has been scarcely studied, and to our knowledge there are no systematic or epidemiological investigations performed to evaluate CA and occupational skin diseases among ice hockey players.

INTRODUCTION When patch testing, the occlusion time is standardized to 48 h.1 A shorter occlusion time would be convenient for the patients.2, 3 An occlusion time of 24 h has been suggested as sufficient for testing.4 The aim of this study was to investigate whether occlusion for 24 h is sufficient to trace weak contact allergy to sensitizers in the Swedish baseline series.
