Marlon A. Walker currently covers the DeKalb County School district, the third largest school district in the state, for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Prior to his move to Atlanta in March 2015, he has worked in several newsrooms including the Detroit Free Press, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Associated Press and the former St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times).
A native Detroiter, Walker has covered everything imaginable, including the suicide of an incumbent mayor, the death of St. Louis Cardinals legend Stan Musial, fallout from the Jayson Blair plagiarism scandal, Detroit's bankruptcy and drug arrests of singer Bobby Brown and rapper Waka Flocka.
