What was your first job as a journalist?

I was an apprentice at The Detroit Free Press in 1999, just after graduation.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

In elementary school, to write papers.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Too many to name...lol

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I like to make people aware of what they should know so they can make informed decisions.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was photo editor for two years, then editor-in-chief.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

One in which my name was misspelled.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I LOVE The Washington Post.
