Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance. Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. Luke 22:54-55 (NKJV) Peter was one of the Lord’s faithful followers. But here, he distanced himself from the Lord. He followed, but he followed at a distance. Have you ever done that? Are you doing it right now? Maybe not in every area of your life but perhaps in one area?

“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

“When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, ‘Do you want to get well?’” John 5:6 (NIV) Why would Jesus ask this question? “Do you want to get well?” Of course, he did. Didn’t he? This scripture takes me back to my struggle with weight and body image. I needed, I desired, I prayed for, healing of my relationship with food and my body. I wanted nothing more than to be set free from this mental, spiritual, and physical struggle.
