Abstract Electronic nematicity, the spontaneous breaking of rotational symmetry, has emerged as a key instability in correlated quantum systems. CsTi3Bi5, a kagome metal of the AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs) family, hosts rich unconventional electronic phases, yet the origin of its nematicity remains unsettled. Here, we combine polarization-dependent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with functional renormalization group calculations on a fully interacting ab initio model.

Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), with its exceptional sensitivity to both the binding energy and the momentum of valence electrons in solids, provides unparalleled insight into the electronic structure of quantum materials. Over the past two decades, the advent of femtosecond lasers, which can deliver ultrashort and coherent light pulses, has ushered the ARPES technique into the time domain.
