There was a degree of cynicism among the racing game community last year, with YouTube algorithms favouring videos bemoaning the genre’s decline. To be fair, 2025 was hardly a standout year for the genre, with the disastrous launches of Project Motor Racing and Rennsport making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Racing games are often relegated as a niche genre, but this wasn’t always the case.

AGX GP is a new anti-gravity racer launching on PC later this year

With WipEout and F-Zero lying dormant, there’s room in the genre for new futuristic franchises. On Switch 2, FAST Fusion is Nintendo’s answer to F-Zero, while RedOut 2 is a worthy WipEout alternative on PC and consoles. Later this year, futuristic racing fans have another anti-gravity racer to look forward to in the form of AGX GP. First announced in January, AGX GP is described as a “heart-thumpingly fast” anti-gravity racer that has been in development for over four years by Typ1 Games.
